Peking carpets are almost invariably Chinese in their decorative style, as here, with vases on stands, seasonal flowers, fretwork border elements, more paeonies in the border, and blue, blue, blue. Peking loves blue in all its tints, shades, hues and saturations. Two shades of darkest blue let the designs stand out, like the colors, the pile is rich and deep in this circa 1910 rug.
