The rug has a very unique and beautiful wheat field color with French blue and navy blue Designs. The design in the field consists of a large medallion with two birds in tree branches surrounded by various Chinese symbols for fortune, prosperity, and long life. The colors in the field and border include baby blue, French blue, brown, and antique ivory. The design of this Peking rug is very similar to the design of the Ningxia carpets from the 18th and the early 19th centuries with a lattice border and open field.
