19th Century Green and Purple Red Amritzar Rug € 20.000, ca 1890

About the Item

Indian production carpet with pastel tones. A large beige medallion rests in the green lemon-coloured field. The rich border has a purple-red background and is decorated with small sweaters that recall the central one. Measures: 340 x 270 cm This production was destined to the sumptuous residences of the maharajas and often built at the Indian courts from workers from Persia. For this reason, the decorations call those of the Persian carpets, but what distinguishes these carpets is chromatism so different and so refined. Amritzars are sumptuous carpets that make any elegant and refined environment.
