Antique Indian Agra Carpet, Plum All-Over Field, Royal Blue Borders

About the Item

This northern Indian town carpet closely follows in pattern and palette the 17th century Kashmir pashmina pile carpets with a plum burgundy ground neatly divided by an ivory Mughal lattice enclosing rosettes. Royal blue palmette major border. Must have been copied from a rug book illustration. Well-woven.
