There are many different types of Indian rugs, however, Amritsar carpets certainly draw the most attention. The Western influence and, particularly, the Colonial rule in India, are clearly seen in the magnificent face of antique Amritsar rugs. However, one of the greatest strengths of these fabulous floor covering is their impeccable quality. Based on the top-notch luminous wool, with a cotton foundation, double weft an and asymmetric knot, Amritsar rugs are distinguished by luxurious feel. No other type of Indian rug can convey both traditional approach and Western influence with the grace of Amritsar carpet. This unique antique rug was hand woven with great care in the early 20th century, circa 1900. Everything in this Amritsar rug, from design to color palette was painstakingly planed, which resulted in a composition of timeless elegance. The pattern of this antique Indian rug features an abrashed taupe field with an allover trellis design of scrolling floral vines and palmettes within a serrated leaf border. The color palette includes earthy shades of brown, which are bound to warm up any interior. A bit of creamy beige and black help to balance out the palette and give it more depth.
