About the Item

Hand knotted in wool originating from India circa 1920, this antique art deco rug connotes a Samarkand rug design, inspired by neighboring Peking rugs with a unique colloquial take. A regal play of navy blue and gold hues both inspires a classic distinction and highlights the intricate variations of pattern, both in the stylistically engaging field medallion, floral, and loom pictorial depictions as well as in the more tribal borders denoting the varied Oriental rug influences of this take on Art Deco style. A welcome addition to the Antique & Vintage Collection.
