Vintage Agra Gallery Size Rug in All Over Pattern in Ivory, Green, Pink, Yellow

About the Item

Vintage Indian Agra Gallery Rug in "Garden of Paradise" pattern from the 2nd quarter of the 1900s. The field has a Mogul court favorite design elements including the cypress trees, birds, and flowers. The cypress tree is considered a universal symbol of immortality and was often used in the weaving of Persian and Indian rugs of the 16th-18th centuries. This Agra rug has a very tight weave and wonderful lush wool with a beautiful palette of colors including green, blue, red, and saffron yellow. The rug has a cream/light yellow color field and a gorgeous saffron color primary border with a design of leaves and branches. Truly a gem of design. Finally, this rug has the same design as SKU 1756, which is very rare to find two vintage rugs with identical design.
