With its effortless beauty and architectural elements of arabesque vines scrolls, this hand knotted wool vintage Indian rug beautifully embodies Dutch Renaissance style. An almond-shaped central medallion with scalloped edges anchored with palmette pendants flank either end surrounded by an all-over floral pattern composed of blooming palmettes, curled sickle leaves, leafy tendrils arabesque vines with peony, carnation, and lotus flowers spread across the abrashed navy blue field. Enclosing the floral medallion are dramatic, deep and elaborate creamy-beige corner spandrels boasting baroque elements as it sets the stage for a bounty of flower garlands and organic leafy mounds. It is enclosed with a meandering palmette border flanked with an inner and outer carnation meander guard band.
