About the Item
This rug is a collector piece! It is called a Rehamna rug and was probably made in the area around the plains of Marrakech, Morocco.
The background color of this rug is a subtle red with black and pink designs. The rich composition is made of three bold designs in the center part surrounded with multiple small, designs like organic diamonds, scales and unregular triangles. Those designs are traditionally associated to the life of the berber woman. They are symbols for the wedding, sexual symbols, pregnancy and giving birth mostly.
When it comes to real vintage Moroccan rugs, you should keep in mind that they were a way for berber women to express their deep feelings with creativity. This vibrant tribal rug definitely is a unique piece of berber art!
The rug is made of wool 100%, is a low to medium high pile.
Approximate dimensions are 5.8x8.6feet / 177x264cm (+small tassels).
The rug was shortened and one part was cut off, probably because the ending was too damaged to be nicely repaired.

- Condition:Repaired: This rug comes with a few fixes as shown on the close-up pictures attached to the listing. Tassels will be reattached to make sure they don't unravel. Wear consistent with age and use. Again this rug is a real vintage rug with a back story. It will come with signs of wear, which make it unique and charming. That said, it has been very nicely fixed and is now in beautiful condition!
