Rug & Kilim’s Custom Moroccan Rug Design in Green with White Lozenge Patterns

About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool, this custom rug design represents a bold new line of Moroccan rugs by Rug & Kilim. It represents some of the most devoted nomadic weavers in rural Morocco, both keeping a rich tradition alive and helping it to flourish with new possibilities today. On the Design: These photos depict a recently sold 10x13 rug that enjoys a green field and off-white geometric pattern. Admirers of the craft will note an impressive large-scale adaptation of primitivist lozenges (Berber symbols that resemble diamond patterns). Keen eyes will further admire the variety of greens, ranging from army green, hunter green, olive green and beyond. This marks a masterful blend of yarns, meant to lend a subtle movement and highlight the rich, intentional look. Designers will further appreciate this adaptation of lush, thick pile to a large-size rug—a comfortable, cozy choice for any space. This represents one of several current contributions to Moroccan style, meant to widen its reach while honoring its foundations. Custom capable: All sizes and colors available—inquire for a quote.

  • Vintage Moroccan Blue Kilim Rug with Geometric Border and Two Diamond Lozenges
    Located in Morristown, NJ
Antique early 20th century Moroccan Kilim rug, with two central diamond medallions, made in simple flat-woven or tapestry technique, in which the pattern is produced by horizontal wefts that cover the vertical warps. The ground is a denim blue color with browns, greens, beiges, pinks and blues woven into the border decoration and diamond medallions. The desire for the ‘exotic’ rug family in Western culture played no small part in the entrance of Moroccan style to the world stage and the gradual western influence on the style we see today. Given their thinner, supple structure, Kilim rugs are usable not only as decorative floor covering, but also as wall hangings and on furniture or bed coverlets...
