About the Item
The Tuareg mat we present brings together the distinguishing features of a Tuareg nomads' tent decor and the rigor of contemporary design. To offer our furniture a fascinating combination. It has an excellent size: 290x145 cm, and although it is old, it is preserved in perfect condition. Created from desert palm wood woven with dromedary leather. Its minimalist design gives it a touch of understated class. Its wonderful vintage flap comes from the few plant colors locally available
This mat is the pure call from a distant past to marry with contemporary decor.
Because of these merits, Tuareg mats have lately entered the world of fashion, film, and furniture with force.
Tuareg mats, or Saharan mats in general, are a highly refined piece of furniture made in the Sahara Desert generally in Mauritania. These mats were created by Tuareg women from the only local materials: sheepskin or dromedary leather cut very finely to allow it to be woven with palm wood; colorations were put on further. These mats, stand out with minimal, bold designs that embody meanings steeped in the dawn of time. The artistic expression engraved in the Tuareg mat is symbolic of the majesty and free spirit of these nomadic peoples.
The Saharan mat allowed perfect insulation from the sand but at the same time was maneuverable to accompany the desert blue men on their constant travels.
