21673 Vintage Berber Moroccan rug, Boujad Saddlebag with Bauhaus Style 04'07 x 04'09. With its simplicity and bold expressive design, this hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Boujad Saddlebag Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The abrashed field features an all-over geometric pattern composed of alternating colored blocks forming an all-over checkerboard pattern which represents the barley motif, a fertility symbol. Triple horizontal stripes interrupt the irregular checkerboard design creating sultry drama with an edge. Gentle waves of abrash and variations in wear soften the otherwise bold geometric design. Staying true to Cubism and Bauhaus style with a graphic color block pattern, this Moroccan rug draws inspiration from Hans Hofmann, Karl Benjamin, and Theo van Doesburg. Rendered in variegated shades of black, coffee, brick red, terra cotta, charcoal, and orange hues with other accent colors.
