20241 vintage Moroccan runner, extra-long Moroccan Hallway runner. This hand knotted wool vintage Moroccan runner features a lovely abrashed solid field framed by two columns of crenelated borders. Though deceptively simple, this classic design is steeped in tradition and significance. The crenelated borders represent snakes, which are seen to symbolize male fertility. Some also ascribe the significance of the snake motif to the “Great Goddess,” who tamed the snake like a spirit animal whirling around her divine staff. This depth of meaning presented in a bold, clean form is what make Moroccan rugs such as this one such wonderful additions to contemporary interiors.
