About the Item

This beautiful Zapotec rug is a limited collection piece made by Master Artisan Román Gutierrez. Every yarn is hand-dyed using natural ingredients and pigments from the Oaxaca region, in Mexico. The modern abstract design together with the yellow mustard with dark green palette come together in this native Zapotec carpet. Newly handmade of pure wool with a braided border and fringed edges, this astounding piece is made in the small town of Teotitlán del Valle, owner of a great tradition in the textile work of wool in pedal loom. Roman's work has been influenced by Pre-Columbian textile art. His profession involves the restoration of the Zapotec culture, the preservation of the textile traditions and teaching.
