Vintage Native American Navajo Yei rug from the 3rd quarter of the 1900s. The design of this Navajo Yei contains two deity forms standing with corn stalks next to each. In Navajo mythology, the Yei are a group of deities who act as mediators between humans and the Great Spirit. The rug is very beautiful and colorful. The color palette includes ivory, green, yellow, brown, and red. It is a beautiful piece of wall art. Navajo rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
