Measuring 5’3” x 6’10”, this 1920s Bibibaft Bakhtiari carpet with vibrant red, gold, and pink tones belongs to the Orley Shabahang Antique Collection. Meticulously hand-knotted using a traditional Persian weave, bibibaft carpets possess their exceptional quality and unique status from their provenance, woven at the hands of the matriarch of the village. That lends these carpets a renowned status and typically represent some of the finest-quality Bakhtiari carpets. To obtain the colors in this area rug, the weaver utilized organic vegetable dyes to achieve such bright and fade-resistant tones. The rug's central pattern encapsulates beautiful floral bouquets as well as the fundamental lozenges of Bakhtiari design. Roses, carnations, and marigolds fill the carpets’ bouquets with the feel of a lush garden.
