Hand knotted in wool originating between 1890-1900, this antique Doroksh rug hails from the Doroksh province of Persia, acclaimed for the rarity and widely regarded decorative appeal of a Persian rug from this region. Enjoying a distinct black colorway in the arresting medallion field pattern, both rare in this antique family as well as a natural complement to the warm play of beige and red colorway, the medallion and field spandrels enjoy a further distinction in the subtle peach accent within the more prevalent gold-brown background of the border, playing skillfully into the juxtaposition of the field’s openness with the more repetitious paisley pattern for a very grand sense of depth; offering both a regal and warm complement to a variety of interiors in this versatile size and condition.
