Antique Dragon Rug Hand Knotted in Hereke Turkish Carpet
About the Item
This beautiful rug comes from western Turkey.
The rug originates in the town of Hereke - also known for its fine silk rugs.
It is of wonderful quality with a fine luster and vibrant colors. The condition is good with visible wear in the field of the rug. The pile is partly very low and knot heads and foundation is visible - it gives it the looked after vintage look. All edges are in good, used condition. The item is fresh washed.
The design originates in ancient Persia. The style of this rug is typical for antique Tabriz carpets. The dragon, which is decorating many of the motifs within the rug, are influenced by Chinese textiles. The overall design makes it perfect for a dining room or a living room.
