Antique Kashan Traditional Red and Blue Silk Persian Rug

About the Item

Originating from Persia between 1900-1910, this antique traditional Persian rug is hand knotted in naturally iridescent silk to complement an extremely Fine all-over field design. The spacious central pattern includes lancet leaves and curvilinear branches resembling Herati fish patterns and a series of lotus palmettes, peonies, and irises in vibrant but rustic red and beige against a deep, royal blue background. Framed initially by an orange-gold outline and sweeping iris spandrels, the same patterns repeat in a more geometric vine scroll pattern throughout the middle border, framed by the precise and rustic golden-brown mirrored inner and outermost borders.
