Antique North Indian Handmade Wool Rug

Tabriz may lightly be called the most famous weaving center in the world and this magnificent antique rug before your eyes is a paragon of its superior craftsmanship. The main field of the venerable North Indian carpet is covered in an all-over lattice of dense botanical and floral motifs, enclosed within an equally compelling series of borders kept in the spirit of the main design. Meandering vines, palmettes, Shah Abbas or Herati are only some Classic ornaments hidden inside this lush, thriving thicket. Although the major Persian weaving hub happened to execute all kinds of existing oriental pattern, this particular arrangement of motifs is a flagship example of Tabriz art.
Everything is balanced and complemented thanks to the toned and versatile color palette, consisting of light shades of gray, brown, camel and ivory. The excellence exceeds the appearance and extends to the making. Thoroughly handwoven of the finest wool by an Apt and skilled artisan, this antique Persian rug has survived until this day in perfect condition which is the best confirmation of its quality.
