With its bold elemental nature combined with neutral tones and bright color pop, this hand-knotted wool antique Persian Bakshaish rug embodies a modern northwest style. Taking center stage is a large-scale hexagonal serrated medallion filled with geometric motifs flanked with four rosette cartouches. Rich waves of abrash sweep across the coveted open rustic orange striated field, adding depth and warmth. A sandy-beige guard band separates the all-over floral pattern in the corner spandrels from the center while creating a double mihrab niche to enclose the center medallion. The antique Bakshaish rug is enclosed with a rectilinear compound border composed of serrated motifs and angular vines.
