About the Item
This rug is a replica based off of the world-famous London Ardabil Carpet. The original carpet dates back to 1539, while this replica dates hundreds of years old as well. The rug, which has been displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, carries an extremely unique characteristic to it, being that there is not only a weaver’s mark and signature on it, but a poem written as well.
The poem reads:
I have no refuge in the world other than thy threshold. There is no protection for my head other than this door.
The work of the servant of the threshold Maqsud of Kashan in the year 946.
Vintage extremely fine Tabriz, circa 1919. This wonderful oversize Tabriz rug from the north-western province of Azerbaijan in Northwest Persia is a very special piece. The extremely fine weave in the rug enables the intricate designs to come to life with their fine details. The deep navy field has a central medallion surrounded by floral emblems that are repeated in the corners to create symmetry. The main border enclosed by guard borders finishes the rug to perfection and produces a piece of art that will bring distinction to any room setting. Measures: 15' x 27'.
