53242, distressed antique Persian Bijar runner with modern rustic shaker style. Warm and inviting with rustic sensibility, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Bijar runner beautifully embodies a modern shaker style. The lovingly time-worn abrashed camel brown field features a star-cross medallion anchored with trefoil pendants at either end while surrounded by a small-scale Herati pattern. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. It is enclosed with a botanical meander border.
