Hand-Knotted Gold Transitional Persian Semnan Wool Carpet, 4’ x 6’

About the Item

With a warm golden background and an all-over green garland design, this Semnan-inspired carpet was woven in Pakistan and measures 4 ’x 6’. The Semnan design is composed of blooming flower motifs, encompassed by red and green detail garlands. Poetic and condensed, the design illustrates a flower garden and depicts the growth of a plant. Starting with a petit purple seed with intricate circular detailing, the seed sprouts to a bulb and expands into a beautiful red, pink, cream, and light blue flower, with offshoots of soft green and cream leaflets. The golden flower field is surrounded by a dark floral-filled border, which acts as the walkway around the garden. Orley Shabahang continues the traditional weaving process by working with weavers, house to house, village to village, to preserve the art of weaving as a cottage industry and implement these traditional methods to create the heirlooms of the future.
