About the Item

Stunning stairway or hallway runner wool rug, hand-knotted in Caucasus / Azerbaijan. Caucasian design rugs and carpets are mainly made of fine, hand-spun wool, This wonderful and stunning example comes from the area west of the Caspian Sea. This rug was made with motifs called Gul that originate in the Turkmen rugs. Other design elements are from Kazak, Shirvan and Armenian rugs. Origin: Azerbaijan Pile material: Fine hand-spun wool, good pile condition Weft material: Cotton Warp material: Cotton Structure: Soft and with a dense pile - fine sheep's wool Colors: Beige, Camel. Blue with Violet touch, Red. This is vintage rug has little wear consistent with age and use. It is fresh washed. Size: approx. 9.7 x 4.3 ft, 115 x 51 inch or 292 x 130 cm The design can be categorized in Persian rugs, Caucasian rugs, Karabagh rugs, Azeri rugs, Turkmen rugs. The age is vintage or semi antique. Shape: Rectangular (rugs from villages and tribal origin are never exactly streight an even in shape). This type of rug goes well in a setting such as South-Western, Rustic or Traditional interiors, but will also set a great contrast to contemporary oder modern styled homes. The size will fit well to a wide hallway or in front of a bed, but also decorates any living room or dining room.
