This white Samarkand Khotan carpet consists of a cotton warp and weft, hand-knotted pure wool pile and organic vegetal dyes. Created circa 1870, its unique coloration, age and fine quality make it a truly exceptional piece. The varying neutral tones add dimension to the large-scale design, balanced by the carpet's border and field. The size is 7'1" x 13'9", and it is in excellent antique condition.     This Persian Haji Jalili Tabriz carpet created circa 1870 consists of a cotton warp and weft, hand-knotted wool pile and organic vegetal dyes. It is an exceptionally Fine example from the master artist and weaver Haji Jalili, and was crafted using his own signature wool and dyes. While the coloration may look simple upon first glance, it actually consists of a complex combination of earth tones based on the rule of seven. That is, there are seven different shades of brown, seven of beige, seven of pale green, and so on. It is extremely challenging for a weaver to work with colors that are so similar and yet still be able to distinguish among them, especially while working with such fine woolen yarns.
