Nain Rug
About the Item
Production began in the 1930’s in the central Persian town of Nain, and this small scatter is characteristic of the very fine pieces from the 1960’s. The soft salmon-rose round octogramme medallion centres an ecru eight bud octogramme sub medallion, all on the ecru field symmetrically covered with palmettes and barbed leaves, some in a quasi-three dimensional style. Navy-black corners and putty border with many barbed leaves and smaller palmettes. Very fine weave on cotton. Measures: 3'9'' x 5'6''.
