Beautiful antique Tribal Northwest Persian runner rug, country of origin / rug type: Persian tug, date: circa 1900. Size: 3 ft 4 in x 10 ft 4 in (1.02 m x 3.15 m). Simplicity in design and contrast are used to create a uniquely tribal design in this Northwest Persian rug. The design of the antique Persian rug pays more attention to the borders than the field design of this antique runner rug. Although this technique is not uncommon in nomadic and tribal rugs, it strays from the conventional design that features a central medallion or an impactful field design as the main attraction. The primitive design of this antique tribal Northwest Persian runner rug uses a series of small overall triangle designs for the field. Set against a dark charcoal colored background, the uniform triangles, seem to almost disappear and blend into the background. This affect further highlights the distinct and larger scale patterns that we see in the border designs.
