Beautiful geometric antique Persian Heriz rug, country of origin / rug type: Persian rug, date circa 1920. Size: 11 ft x 14 ft 4 in (3.35 m x 4.37 m) This antique Persian Heriz rug brings a sense of Classic timelessness to any interior design. As is the case with most Persian Heriz Serapi rugs, the central theme of this rug is one of balance, symmetry and order. The Persian rug uses four main background colors to set apart different sections of the overall design. The smaller elements of design are all confined within their own defined section. They do not wander into or out of the other areas. Each element of the room size rug has its own designated place and visual function. When viewed in its entirety, all these smaller designs come together to support the overall visual and artistic impact of the geometric rug. The antique carpet has a certain formal symmetry in all four directions and the eight cardinal points. The central Classic anchor medallion design is based on a square and sets the tone for the rest of the design. Although there is some curviness that can be seen in the leaves, the vast majority of the motifs are strictly stylized to focus on straight lines and angular elements. The jewel tone colors of the rug are blended in a way that enhances the design without overpowering. The artist who created this magnificent antique Oriental rug was careful in the choice of color tones to make certain that no element stands out from the others.
