Vintage Bakhtiari Rug 4'7'' x 6'9''
About the Item
Probably from around Hamadan in western Persia rather than the Bakhtiari/Chahar Mahal region in central Persia, this rustic scatter shows an old ivory field with red hexagrammes and miscellaneous small geometric devices, supporting a salmon-red extended sub-field centring a navy serrated medallion with an ecru pinched octogramme centre, surrounded by more hexagramme cartouches and octagonal rosettes. Narrow mid-blue meander border. Good condition. All-cotton foundation with symmetric knots.
