Drawing inspiration from Alexander McQueen, Día de los Muertos, and Disney's Coco movie, this hand knotted wool distressed vintage Calavera skull area rug has been crafted from a vintage Persian Tabriz that has been overdyed in blue hues. It is adorned with decorative elements of florals, marigolds, hearts, rosary, and geometric accents honoring a deceased loved one on All Saint's Day. The piece was made through a process of distressing and over-dyeing, with the artist then hand-carving away the design from the pile of the rug. The original designs of the Persian rug peek through the blue colored dye with floriated vines and palmettes visible.
