Vintage Persian Tabriz in Allover Afshan Geometric Pattern in Navy Blue, Red

About the Item

A vintage room size Persian Tabriz in a rare “Afshan” allover pattern set in a navy blue field with a red border circa the 2nd quarter of the 1900s. The design of this Tabriz rug is following the design of the Caucasian Kuba and Shirvan rugs from the 19th century in the "Afshan" pattern (stylized dragon and blossom). The field design colors include green, blue, pink, yellow, and red. The rug has a geometric all-over design similar to Caucasian Shirvan rugs which are generally in a smaller 4 ft × 6ft sizes. What makes this truly one-of-kind is that the design and pattern of those small rugs are implemented in a larger room size with the same details in the color palette. The use of geometric forms and bright colors throughout makes a truly wonderful design.
