Vintage Shahsavan Persian Kilim with Open Field & Blue Medallions by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

This vintage 5x12 Shahsavan kilim is an interesting tribal rug for its period and lineage. Handwoven in wool, it’s believed to originate circa 1950-1960. Further on the Design: The design prefers blue medallions on a polychromatic open field, wrapped in rich brown and off-white borders. This rug is one of a rare series R&K Principal Josh Nazmiyal has curated with large size and rich colors. It’s a rare choice for this provenance, and an exemplar in Persian tribal rugs as well. Keen eyes may note mauve, rust orange, and bright red notes in the open field, and further admire the dimension they lend the medallions above. Further on the Condition: This mid-century Shahsavan flat weave further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
