This is a vintage Shiraz decorative rug. A Persian, woven hall or lounge carpet, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940. Of useful, near Qali size at 162cm x 305cm (63.75" x 120") Displaying a desirable aged patina with some light sun fade and minimal wear Hand-woven, colourful pile offers a palette of warm, inviting hues Provides a comfortable underfoot feel for the hallway or living room A trio of large medallions occupy the central frieze, framed by triangular panels Black ground hosts an array of small, colourful flower heads Tramline border in red intersected by a dark midnight blue band, each decorated with foliate motif Dressed to each end with bands of short, tightly spaced tassels This is an inviting vintage Shiraz decorative rug, from the south western region of Persia.
