Antique Kuba Rug Beige Red Boteh Tribal Patterns with Pink Accent by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Hand knotted in wool originating from Russia between 1910-1920, this antique Kuba rug enjoys rarity in both the colorway and the tribal geometric pattern among our team’s selections for distinction in the recent collection. The traditional red colorway is complemented both by a warm beige and an uncommon peach pink colorway relegated to highlighting the geometry, particularly the border quarter diamonds and the boteh (paisley, or teardrop) patterns in the field, seldom seen in this pagination with the more popular floral imagery beside them. The field’s skillful juxtaposition of stylistic definition in the tribal symbols creates a more distinct sense of movement than Kuba rugs tend to enjoy, meanwhile the piece still benefits from the classically soothing repetition of the border patterns, further enjoying a variety of colorway including a rich array of blue difficult to find with these other hues in this good condition. Enjoying mild wear consistent with the age of this piece.
