Antique Persian Rug in All over Orange OffWhite, Floral Pattern by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Hand Knotted in wool, a very beautiful antique Tabriz garden rug design originating circa 1920-1930, now joining Rug & Kilim’s Antique & Vintage collection. Exhibiting a spectacular show of Persian sensibilities, the 7x10 graph features an awe inspiring floral pattern in orange, brown on a beige backdrop juxtaposed by hints of blue for a tasteful play of warm and cool tones. The border flourishes in a medley of floral designs dripped in bright orange with subtle red and pale blue accents to settle the contrasting and complementary shades harmoniously on a drawing of such magnificent design & inspiration. Existing in great condition, a piece well suited for classic and Victorian projects. Connoisseurs may further note a subtle pictorial reference to vase structures with tree-of-life motifs, as well as an almost lattice pattern connecting the palmettes and varied symbols in the field.

Homers Iliad and Egyptian tomb paintings, from the same time period, depict weavers producing rugs and carpets of this kind. Since this is one of the oldest methods of rug production, it is considered to be primitive...
