About the Item
Barbro Nilsson, easily Sweden’s greatest colorist of the Twentieth Century, shows us here that she can do subtlety as well as statement. This example, with a small amount of contrasting relief pile, reveals a grid that contextualizes itself into almost any interior scheme. Endlessly versatile, it contains browns, greys, off whites and ochre. Fringes have been removed. This does not detract from the work, and may even enhance it.
