This custom flat weave design is a new addition to the Scandinavian rug collection by Rug & Kilim. Handwoven in wool, cotton and natural yarns, its design reflects a contemporary take on mid-century Rollakans and Swedish Deco style.
On the Design:
These photos represent a recently sold 9x12 rug in this collection that reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilims of the Swedish minimalist aesthetic in a modern high-end quality. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshing style. This particular Kilim enjoys cool blue and beige-brown geometric patterns with a beautiful coastal look and comfortable presence.
Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
