Antique Spanish Rug with Crowns

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

One of a kind Spanish antique rug from the 1910s-1920s. It is decorated with vases, trees of life and five so called "Caballero" crowns. These crowns are typical for noble families that were called "Marqués" in Spain, situated between a Souvereign prince and an Earl. Every noble stand had own designed crowns to be recognized with.
Spanish rugs are very rare compared to Persian, Turkish or Indian rugs. Most rug and carpet production in Spain was made for the Royal Court or noble families.
Spanish rug making tradition is linked to the Islamic tradition of the Berber Emirs that ruled large parts of Spain for nearly 500 years.
