Espansione and Luce by Giacomo Balla

About the Item

As its name suggests, this superb rug is an explosion of light that seems to emanate from the center in a kaleidoscope of colors. Based on the eponymous 1987 painting by Futurist artist Giacomo Balla, this wool rug is a limited edition piece, entirely handwoven in Sardinia at Antonia Spanu Mesina's workshop in Dorgali, with special permission by the artist's family. Architectural images in brick-red, cobalt-blue, pink, and golden-yellow on a black background create an upward perspective with explosive colors and lines that will enhance any room with warm hues in dynamic yet soothing harmony.
