French Art Deco Handmade Rug by Noel Hostens

About the Item

Mid-20th century French Bold Art Deco Beige, Brown Wool Rug by Noel Hostens Size: 9'6" × 11'0" (289 × 335 cm). This circa 1930 French Deco antique rug features an intriguing all-over design of curvilinear abstractions that suggest floral shapes and arabesques, with checkerboard patterns in brown and beige repeating throughout the field of the carpet. A simple dark brown border completes the Minimalist look of the early 20th century vintage piece. European Art Deco rug owes its name to the first major exhibition of decorative arts to be held after the First World War: L’Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925.
