Vintage German Tetex Special Design Carpet, Ca. 1940
About the Item
This is a semi-antique German Tetex rug woven during the second quarter of the 20th century circa 1940 and measures 485x 336 CM in size. This piece has an allover design comprised of alternating rows of shrub motifs standing in the way enclosed within a large-scale lattice. Each row has a slightly different shade of the grey background color which creates contrast and adds too the design and prevents the piece from having a flat monotone color palette. An interesting feature of this piece is the vase motives with protruding blossoming flowers centrally located at both ends of the rug and in the center. Even though this motif may be subtle it breaks the symmetrical theme and adds diversity to the design. The border is designed with alternating colored palmettes each flanked by tree branches with leaves and blossoming flowers set on a red background color. This rug has been preserved and overall excellent condition and is ready to be used and enjoyed for many more decades to come.
