Vintage Handmade Persian Floor Rug Hosseinabad Red Blue Medallion Wool 1990s

About the Item

This handmade wool rug from Hosseinabad, Iran, features an intricate Herati design in deep shades of red and blue. The Herati design is a traditional Persian pattern, believed to be based on older Farahan designs typical of the region. The wool has been naturally washed and dried for a minimum of three months, creating a durability and warmth only found in authentic Persian rugs –– making it a perfect central addition to any room in the house either with midcentury interiors or modern. Would look great under a dining table or a coffee table. The village of Hosseinabad is located to the north west of Iran, some 300km from Tehran, and is part of a region famed for their rug-making. Each village has its own style of rug, and as such no two are particularly alike, varying in pattern and colours.
