18th Century, Pair of Barocchetto Venetian Lacquered Giltwood Armchairs This refined and important pair of armchairs was made around the middle of the 18th century in Venice, Italy, in carved, lacquered and gilded wood and reflects the typical stylistic dictates of the Venetian Baroque style. The armchairs are distinguished by their elegance in their wavy shapes: the seat is supported by a wavy band, with golden profiles, lacquered and carved floral decorations with rocaille elements. The back is also mixed and wavy, carved, gilded and lacquered with polychrome floral lacquer decorations. The top has a rocaille shell element, small spirals to curl on the sides and rocaille decoration with foliated elements at the bottom. The legs are curved, and the armrests, curved and shaped, help to give a particularly harmonious line. The armchairs, which can be placed together or individually, are very decorative both in an entrance hall or in a room and in a bedroom.
