    Rare pair of French Art Deco lounge chairs by Michel Dufet, France, 1930s Pair of low profile art deco lounge chairs designed by Michel Dufet in France, 1930s. This is a photo from the “Exposition Internationale De 1937, Maurice Dufrene, Ensembles Mobiliers, Vol 1”, a rare portfolio of plates documenting European Arts Decoratifs interiors in 1937. The original photograph is believed to either be in a private collection or destroyed in WW II. Dufet was an architect, interior designer and art critic. As a proponent of the functional modern style he introduced a discrete use of cubism into his interiors. He directed the largest interior design firm in South America from 1922 to 1927 in Rio de Janeiro. He returned to France in 1928 to take over the direction, with Le´andre Vaillant, of the “Atelier d’Art du Bu^cheron“.
