1950s Steel Chair by Hans Harald Molander for Nordiska Kompaniet

About the Item

Armchair in steel and upholstery designed by Hans-Harald Molander for Nordiska Kompaniet. Sweden, 1954-1955. The structure of this black lacquered steel seat that supports the seat represents a true example of mid-20th century design, taking its inspiration from industrial forms in the search for the beauty of functionalism. This structure holds a well proportioned, confortable seat that has been has been renovated and reupholstered. It lacks of decorative elements and the faceted geometry emphasizes the modern character of the piece. Nordiska Kompaniet was, and continues to be, a benchmark of Swedish design. During the second half of the 20th century, they bet on great designers such as David Rosen, Axel Larsson, Axel Einar Hjorth... among others to create luxury interiors and custom made cafted pieces on their workshops in Sweden.
