1970s Italian Armchairs
About the Item
Incredibly soft and comfortable 1970s armchair. Upholstered in Regents Parchment and Marci Mohair Mustock by Yarn Collective, the fun tonal and textural interplay makes these formally striking armchairs even more beautiful.
Three structural boards covered in mohair velvet hold the highly structured but incredibly soft foam seat and back. With clear influence from Le Corbusier's Cassina series, these are much warmer and more inviting than their inspiration.
We expect these armchair to be bespoke and carpenter made. The internal structure is of incredibly high quality, and whilst there have been restorations on the foam, it is a complicated design aspect which draws away from mass production. Similar to the Afra and Tobia Scarpa's Bastiano armchairs of the same era, the ubiquity of the bucket chair in contemporary design and post modernism remains a steadfast chic classic.
