Amsterdamse School Conference Set by Cornelis Blaauw, 1920

About the Item

An impressive set of seven conference chairs in Amsterdamse School style, designed by Cornelis Blaauw for the School of Applied Arts in Haarlem around 1920. They are made of beautiful quality wood with a warm brown finish. The chairs have a unique style, designed with an impressive eye for detail! They have elegant shapes with wonderful details as shown in the photos. This all adds tot he impressive style of the set, but they also have a great seating comfort. The seats are comfortably upholstered in beautiful quality green velvet, soft to the touch. The set was designed for the conference room of the School of Applied Arts in Haarlem. The set contains six lowback chairs with a total height of 102 cm and one highback chair with a total height of 147 cm. Their eye-catching Dutch Modernist style will make this set a fantastic addition to any decor! The set remains in very good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Provenance: Gallery Frans Leidelmeijer, Netherlands and documentation from “Holland, als de kunstenaar de nijverheid dient dient de nijverheid de kunst”, as shown in photos.

    A colonial Amsterdam School dressing table, manufactured in the former Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, around 1920. This eye-catching piece is made of high quality wood in a nice warm brown colour. The centre of the piece holds a tall mirror in a nicely detailed frame. The cabinets on the side each have a single door and a drawer on the top. In the centre a long mirror in a scalloped frame, flanked by two cabinets, each with a single door and a drawer on top. The tops are made of black wood which also comes back in the details and handles. A fantastic find with a truly unique style, made with an exceptional eye for detail! It remains in very good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
