Baffo armchair by Gianni Pareschi and Ezio Didoni for Dam, by Busnelli 1969

About the Item

Baffo, a tube that runs and bends, holding a leather basin suspended a foot from the ground. The Baffo armchair is the result of the union between the industrial processing of the mass-produced structure and the leather of the seat belonging to the artisan culture, created by hand as a unique piece. The contrasting seams are also handmade and find continuity of design in the line of the structure. Supporting structure in tubular metal with galvanic polished chrome treatment and thick leather seat. / Letteratura: Bibliography: Davide Mosconi_Design italiano 70_Achille Mauri Editore_Milan, Year 1970 - Modern Chairs_The Whitechapel Art Gallery 1918-1970, pp. 96, Milan, Year 1970 - New furniture_nue mobel_n 10_ edited by herausgegeben Von Gerd Hatje, P.34, Germany 1971 - Designers: In 1968 Gianni Pareschi with the G 14 (Gianni Pareschi, from Roberto Ubaldi, Gianfranco Facchetti, Pino Pensotti, Umberto Orsoni), Ezio Didone and Alberto Colombi, founded the Dam Group, Designer Associati Milano; they made important products for the Busnelli Industrial Group (Topos, Armadillo, Baffo, Zen, Materasso...) and studied its corporate image, which went from trade fair images to advertising campaigns, surprising with highly unconventional ideas and content for the time and deeply visionary. The Dam Group also designed exclusive ceramic items, tiles, flower holders, ashtrays... for the historic Cedit Ceramiche, as well as in 1970 a series of models for an equally historic chandelier company and blown glass objects for an industry in Venice. The Dam group signed several ideological and programmatic manifestos on design and organized a large exhibition of the group's products in Milan at the Domus Center.

    Located in Misinto, IT
Libro armchair designed by Gianni Pareschi and Umberto Orsoni for Gruppo Dam and produced by Gruppo Industriale Busnelli in 1970. A unique piece aimed at collectors and enthusiasts of items from the 1970s that revisit the Italian radical design movement of the post-war period, characterized by a clear desire to redefine industrial design in a subversive lifestyle. A sculptural armchair that makes its originality a unique piece as beautiful as it is functional, as the seat unfolds, and each page corresponds to a sitting position. A hinged central frame provides support for the seat pages attached to the frame's articulation. The covering is made of glossy white and fuchsia technical fabric coated with polyurethane resins. It has a white jute floor strap and a small plate with the famous silver B of Gruppo Industriale Busnelli. The Poltrona Libro is to be considered a true cultural icon of radical design; only a very limited number were produced as it was particularly "bold" for its time of creation. The Libro armchair is so artistic that it is displayed in some of the world's most important museums, such as the MoMA in New York.
