Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th Century Elmwood Armchair with Hand-Carved Medallion

About the Item

A Chinese Qing Dynasty period elm wood armchair from the 19th century, with open back, carved splat, serpentine arms, wooden seat and meander-carved apron. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this elm wood armchair features a rectangular open back, adorned with an in-curving splat adorned with a scrolling geometric carved medallion. The two arms present a serpentine shape and rest on thin sinuous supports. The chair showcases a wooden seat with recessed panel in the center and is raised on four straight legs with an eye catching apron in the front, carved with meander motifs and a low stretcher perfect to support the feet. The sides each feature a simple apron and a stretcher. Boasting a warm patina, this Qing Dynasty period Chinese armchair from the 19th century will make for a great accent piece in any home, particularly placed in a foyer, a living room or a bedroom.
